옛날 옛적에 어떤 왕국이 있었어요. 그 나라에 고용이 된 기사가 많이 있었어요. 그리고, 그 기사들 중에 한명이 다른 기사보다 훨씬 날카롭고 용감한 기사가 있었어요. 자기의 재능을 다른 목적 없이 왕국을 위해서만 썼는데, 다른 기사들이 차츰으로 질투하기 시작했어요. 나쁜 시기하는 집단이 드디어 그를 국외로 추방하려고 공모했어요. 아무리 날카로워도, 아무리 용감해도, 한사람은 한사람일 뿐이니까, 결국에는 그는 모국한테 버림을 받았어요. 울면서, 고난을 겪으면서, 기사가 이 넓은 세상을 이리저리 돌아 다녀야만 하게 되었어요.
날카로운 기사를 버린 후에, 모국이 혼돈에 빠졌어요. 기사들이 국가에 대한 반란을 꾀하려고 정보를 모으기 시작했어요. 한두 달 후에 반란이 일어났어요. 낫놓고 기역자도 모르는 임금님은 당연히 화가 났지만, 기사들한테 아무것도 못 했어요. 반란군과 싸우면서 , 임금님은 날카롭고 용감한 기사의 얼굴을 찾았지만… 기사의 빈자리가 얼마나 크던가를 깨달었어요. 임금님과 그의 아내가 그 때로 죽었어요.
한편 우린 용감한 기사가 다른 나라에서 새로운 생활을 시작했어요. 새로운 나라의 관습도 다르고, 음식도 언어도 달라서, 생활 하기가 아주 어려웠어요. 얼마 안 된 후에 새로운 나라의 임금님이 기사의 얘기를 듣고, 그의 진심과 충절을 알아 봤어요. 임금님이 기사를 자기 딸의 수행원으로 만들었어요. 기사는 아무하고도 결혼을 안 했어요. 왜냐하면, 많은 시간을 공주와 함께 보내서, 자연히 공주에 대한 사랑이 자랐어요. 아무리 사랑해도, 기사와 공주는 결혼을 못 하는 것이 세상의 이치예요.
Once upon a time… there was a keen and gallant knight. He was wandering all over the world. He went through many hardships. He was abandoned by his mother country because of other knights’ jealousy, even though he used his tact for his lord. After the knight had been abandoned, his mother country descended into chaos. The other knights started gathering secret data to rebel against the king. A few months later, they started their rebellion. The king was upset because he never caught wind of their plan. While the king faced the knights in battle he tried to find his faithful knight who had a loyalty oath among them. The king realized how stupid he was and how big the true knight’s vacant seat was. Eventually, the rebel army overthrew the country. They killed their king and queen.
Meanwhile, the true knight settled in a neighbouring country. The knight was unaccustomed to his new surroundings but the lord of his new home noticed how well qualified he was for knighthood, and hired him as a private knight for the princess. Althought he had many chances to marry, he remained a bachelor because he only loved the princess. However, he was never allowed to marry the princess.
